The radio site survey is to verify all sites specifics to ensure the space availability for equipment installation at desired position at tower top and in the cabinet, power availability (MCB’s), media availability etc in accordance with the proposed network design. This activity is to be provided for Ericsson by a sub Service Provider service, therefore all activities and documents enclosed should comply with the Ericsson standards and recommendations. The outcome of this survey results into a detailed site specific BoQ as per site design.

  1. The radio site survey activity shall include:
    Preparation
  2. Site visit
  3. Radio Site Survey report
  4. Data Entry in Survey tool & Excel sheet.

The Service Provider plans the visit preparation activity. The following item should be checked:

  • Appointment with the customer
  • Collection/Return of site keys
  • Permission to enter the localities
  • Name of the site responsible person
  • Site location and road description
  • Arrangement of transportation
  • Proposed network design (RND & TND)

Site Visit

A site visit is performed in order to verify that it is possible to implement the proposed network design. Some additional information is to be collected during this visit, such as the location of the radio, antennas, transmission and feeder routes. The Service Provider will be required to take notes and photographs. A representative from the operator should participate at this visit, in case a decision is needed. If required second visit may be done to rectify any incorrect details. Ascertain suitability of the location from the point of view of establishment of the site.

The following items are to be checked during the visit:

-        Dimension layout of existing and proposed equipment with marking of North (Indoor and Outdoor)

-        For Proposed Antenna (location, height, direction) sufficient space is available or not on tower/pole

-        Mounts are available for proposed tower top equipment or not

-        Building/site location (nearby obstacles, airport, military etc.)

-        Measurements and photographs (radio site location)

-        Tower/mast (type, height, width)

-        Radio antennas (Ports details, location, direction, height, feed method)

-        Transmission antennas (location, direction, height)

-        Transmission equipment and card details for Operator.

-        Feeder (type, length)

-        Access to site (workers, crane, and elevator)

-        Existing equipment (position)

-        Existing equipment product detail with serial number.

-        Radio cabinet location placement, in case there is no space available for BBU in existing cabinet

-        Cable ladders/ducts (route, height, and access)

-        Floor, walls, ceilings, roof, weight distribution and fixtures & fittings

-        Roof (fixtures and fittings)

-        LAT & LONG with GPS

-        Site access Information E.G Access Road, No of Floors in case of building top, permission required, key contacts etc.

-        Head load will be required or not, if yes than what is the distance in meters

-        Any special requirement for carrying out the Installation activity e.g., Crane/ Cherry picker, traffic management, Jhoola arrangement etc.

-        All existing equipment’s inventory details for Operator. (Active/Passive)
